G. to dr. Siegfried Bing, Louis Gonse and Ms. Koechlin, 1899
-When Siegfried Bing we started to find an interest in Japanese art he began to collect and sell it starting with his first auction in 1876
-In 1880 Bing visited Japan for 1 year and afterwards had an exhibition of Japanese prints
-Bing visited America in 1894 and discovered Louis Tiffany, a creator and distributor of stained glass windows, vases, and glasses. Tiffany also founded an art studio
-Bing Remolded his shop called L’Art Nouveau which gave the movement a proper title
-Bing wanted a style that combined traditional style with modern/contemporary. Didn’t want furniture to look mass produced but have the quality and touch of an artist
-Bing set up a pavilion at the world’s fair and was a big success mainly appealing to women
